PAT Testing
Procedures
PAT Testing only commences once a thorough visual inspection of the appliance to be tested has been conducted. It is estimated that in the first year of testing approximately 40% of failures will be identified at this stage!
The visual inspection helps identify:
Damage to flex
Damage to the plug and casing, signs of overheating, scorching, cracking.
Incorrectly wired plug
Incorrectly rated fuse
The Selleck Electrical test engineer will also check that the appliance is suitable for use within the environment in which it is being used and will report any observations.
Upon satisfactory completion of the visual inspection, a series of tests are then applied to the appliance subject to the type of equipment to be tested and will include some or all of the following:
Earth continuity
Insulation resistance
Flex polarity
Earth leakage
Operation/run test
All appliances are labeled with an individual bar code number and result of test Pass or Fail. Any remedial repairs such as replacing plugs or fuses, reterminating cables are carried out prior to testing with no additional costs incurred. Additional repairs can be carried out in Selleck Electrical’s fully equipped workshop upon approval of a written estimate.
All test results are thoroughly cross-checked and scrutinised at Selleck Electrical’s offices to ensure accuracy and quality control procedures.
